Solar Power

Solar power is basically the collection of sunlight and its conversion to become electricity. It has become a trend these days as more nations are looking at safer and nature- friendly ways to produce energy. It is widely believed that solar power is the wave of the future. Solar power along with wind power are great alternatives to burning fossil fuels, which is highly expensive and harmful to the environment. Solar power has its advantages that make it a valuable choice over fossil fuel burning. It  also has its few disadvantages and all of which will be discussed in this article.

Disadvantages of Solar Power

Probably the most reasonable disadvantage that keeps nations to fully convert and take advantage of the potent promise of solar power is the cost it would take. Solar panels, solar cells, and solar lightings are highly expensive the first time it is purchased. Another disadvantage is the fact that not every day is a sunny day, thus limiting the amount of electricity or energy to be harvested to provide for every household.

Advantages of Solar Power

Solar power is a renewable form of energy. It means that solar energy does not run out because even after the fact that night or darkness, cloudy, and stormy days come as often as it could or as much as the sun does, the sun will still shine the next day. Unlike burning fossil fuels. If fossil fuels run out, it runs out forever. It cannot be renewed. Another solar power advantage is that the solar cells used to harness sunlight absorption and its conversion to become electricity make no noise at all and only require an annual maintenance as it does not move. It might be very expensive at first but it probably is the only time money comes in. Compared to burning fossil fuels and pumping fuel, which are not only very expensive but also very noisy, solar power is truly a preferable choice. Lastly, perhaps the most valuable advatage why solar power is the greatest alternative to the problem of declining oil reserve is that it produces 0% pollution. Unfortunately, burning fossil fuels sends out carcinogens, greenhouse gases, and carbon dioxide to the Earth’s atmosphere.

Interesting Facts About Solar Power

Did you know that the Oriental Hornets are nature’s very own competent version of solar power experts? This revelation was discovered in Tel Aviv University’s School of Physics and Astronomy. An oriental hornet has long been absorbing the power of the sun using its outer shell’s as the solar cells that also aid to produce electricity. Much like the plants that harvest sunlight for the process of phototsynthesis, oriental hornets do the same. Because of this finding, scientists and experts all have drawn the possibility of a hypothesis that every biological organism and living things will be able to produce their very own electricity.
