• Fyna Foods needed to modernise their technology stack to keep pace with the company’s continuing growth and create efficiencies in their operational processes.

• An on-premise server, along with outdated tools and gaps in internal resources capacity and capability was preventing Fyna Foods from operational and commercial insights, hampering data-driven decision making.

• Minimising ongoing administration of an environment, ensuring quality and cyber security standards, as well as removing key person dependencies was critical for the future of Fyna Foods.

• Fyna Foods knows FMCG inside and out, but is not a technology company. How to best share data, insights and take action required expert external guidance.

Fyna Foods adopted a Gartner Magic Quadrant leading Software as a Service (SaaS) analytics platform to the cloud, Qlik Sense SaaS to provide a single data view over their environment. Notitia would provide the end-to-end strategic and technical support needed to successfully implement the project, and extract quick and reliable insights from their data by leveraging Notitia’s “Analytics as a Managed Service”.

The adoption of Qlik Sense SaaS has allowed Fyna Foods to remain cyber and quality compliant, reduced substantial manual effort and improved adoption of analytics across the business. The ability to make data-driven decisions has provided confidence and evidence for the Leadership Team to continue to expand Fyna’s physical and product footprint. Secondary benefits have included better internal collaboration, remote access, scalability and substantial infrastructure cost savings.

Client Overview

Fyna Foods is one of Australia’s oldest confectionery food manufacturers, having been in business since 1940s, making some of the country’s most recognisable brands such as your childhood Wizz Fizz, Fads and Big Boss lollies, along with Fyna Superior Licorice and Ballantyne and Pink Lady chocolates.

With more than 600 products in their range, Fyna Foods confectionery manufacturing options are very extensive. They also contract manufacture for a range of customers, both large and small, and assist their clients in planning, development and trials for new products.

Their end-to-end service includes manufacturing, using various techniques, along with unit wrapping and finished product display and bulk bagging.

Fyna’s employees follow strict quality control procedures from raw material sourcing to the production of the finished product. Raw material acquisition includes procuring the world’s best cocoa and, where possible, Australian produce (their sugar is 100% Australian sourced).

Fyna Foods monitors the latest production techniques, with a view to always be a “world best practice” organisation.

In 2022, Fyna Foods migrated to the cloud, Qlik SaaS, with Notitia providing the end-to-end strategic and technical support needed to quickly and successfully implement the project, as an extension of their team.

Alongside the migration, to supplement their team, Fyna Foods leveraged Notitia’s “Analytics as a Managed Service”.

This provides them with technical quality assurance and access to Notitia’s expert data analysts. Along with extracting reliable insights from their data, this provides support to Fyna’s internal team, technical training, and tailored visualisations and dashboards.

A key benefit of this service is flexibility - with demand scaled up or down depending on Fyna Food’s requirements and pace of internal projects.

The Qlik SaaS cloud migration and data analytics support service has allowed Fyna Foods to use the most cost effective and up-to-date technology tools and applications. It has given them access to deep data insights to inform their business decisions, alongside improvements such as better internal collaboration, remote access, scalability and cost savings.
