Notitia Wellness Day 2026
TL;DR
- Notitia, an Australian data and digital consultancy, gives every team member an extra paid wellness day each year in the lead-up to Christmas, plus a bonus or vouchers to spend on wellness activities.
- It's on top of 5 weeks of paid annual leave and doesn't come out of anyone's leave balance.
- In 2026, every Notitia employee agreed the company is a great place to work and offers special and unique benefits in the Great Place to Work survey.
In the few months leading up to Christmas, the Notitia team gets an extra paid day off, along with a bonus or vouchers to spend on wellness activities. It doesn't come out of anyone's leave and there's no agenda attached. We know that doing our best work through to the end of the year takes a bit of downtime, so we make sure everyone gets some.
A deliberate pause before the end-of-year rush
By November our team have had a BIG year. Projects are wrapping up, clients are keen to finish things before Christmas and the calendar fills up fast. That's exactly when people are most likely to keep going on empty.
Notitia's wellness day is an enforced break, a chance to step away from the laptop and come back with the right mindset and energy to power through to the end of the year. This is on top of our 5 weeks of annual paid leave.
One of the ways we give back to our team
Wellness day is just one of the ways we give back to our team. A happy team and a balanced work life lead to better outcomes, for our people and for the clients who rely on them.
Our work is detailed. We build data platforms, governance frameworks and reporting that health services, government agencies and not-for-profits use to make real decisions. Getting that right takes focus and care, and people do that kind of work best when they've had a chance to rest.
It also reflects how we work the rest of the year. Our team is spread across Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane and Hobart, and we work flexibly around families, health and life outside work. When we're together in the office, coffee or lunch is on us. Once a year the whole company heads away together, most recently to Queenstown.
What our team told Great Place to Work
Earlier this year Notitia was certified as a Great Place to Work in Australia, based on an anonymous survey of our own team. Every person agreed Notitia is a great place to work, and every person agreed we offer special and unique benefits. We also scored 98% for trust, 99% for pride and 100% for camaraderie.
Those numbers came from the team, not from us, which is why they mean so much. Wellness day is one small part of what sits behind them.
A culture we build on purpose
Alex Avery, Notitia's Managing Director, has always said that culture shapes everything inside a business, from how people work together to the quality of work our clients receive. That's why we look after it deliberately rather than leaving it to chance.
"We keep a small team mentality, where developers, analysts, consultants and designers work closely across projects and have direct access to leadership," Alex says.
"We hire people from a broad range of backgrounds, including career changers and people bringing experience from other industries.
"We also encourage everyone to challenge ideas respectfully and speak up early when something doesn't look right, which matters a great deal in data work."
A day off won't build that culture on its own. What it does is show the team, in a simple and practical way, that their wellbeing matters to us as much as the work they do.
